Why a Romney White House Is Possible in 2012
Among other reasons:
- The "establishment" (Non-Far-Right) GOP will be able to convince Independents and Democrats who voted for Scott Brown over Martha Coakley in Massachusetts that Mitt Romney, besides having been a successful-enough governor of Massachusetts, is a Scott Brown equivalent in many respects.
- Former Governor Romney will be the first Hispanic president-- since George Romney was born in Mexico-- and the first Evangelical Mormon president, which will appeal to those who want novelty in this election cycle.
- 2009-2011 were Democrat legislative and executive years. Wanting change by way of having Republican congressional and legislative years, many will vote out Senate Majority Leader Reid and President Obama as they voted the Republicans out of having the Senate Majority leadership in 2006 and the presidency in 2008.
Is This The Miracle That I Prayed For?
Let's see: whether intentionally or not; whether or not meant to be tagged as Esther, I'm tagged as Haman in a photo. I get an e-mail from a Jehovah's Witness from the Jews for Jesus forums asking me to delete her name from a post which is archived (Thus, I can't remove her name.), I get spam from one person on Twitter, and two other people get hacked and send me spam on Twitter; and I could go on. Am I just getting a rub in the face again, or could I be like Esther?
: If the big miracle that I prayed for is persecution & nothing else good with few exceptions right now, that's what I'm getting.
Maybe I'm Anticipating That Big Miracle I Asked Everyone To Pray About...
Whatever is going on, though, I can't sleep. I was tired but I couldn't sleep. I was going to have breakfast with my sister at the UMBC dining hall, but my Facebook status now reads, "[I] can't sleep. By the way, Michelle, forget breakfast in the morning." My status before read "Pray for a miracle for me; in particular, one that opens doors for me & lets me tell the world "How do you like me now?!" Laila tov."
Should I just ask "Who cares [about me]?!", by the way?

Graceless Gingrich and Sort-of Supercilious Santorum
By Former Speaker Gingrich's speech last night, one can easily judge that Newt Gingrich won't take his opportunity to graciously drop out of the race-- after all, he thinks that his home state (even though Georgia is only one of 10, and of two out of 50, states) will be enough to help him win.
As for sort-of supercilious (though more-or-less-openly-haughty) Former Senator Santorum, he's relying on 2012's Southern Strategy-- Oklahoma, Tennessee, and the southernly state of North Dakota; as well as the Trifecta of Colorado, Missouri, and Minnesota-- all quite southern in their Republican culture as well. The South, with few exceptions, tends to pick the Far Right (who are quite honestly RINOs and closer to the Southern Democrats) and the Far Left; the Southern Democrats of old (and speaking of "of old", the Classical-- 19th Century-- Conservatives, the 18th- and 20th-21st-Centuries Liberals).
In other words, the Far Right are really liberals and RINOs, better off as the Southern and other Democrats that they were, and best off not continuing to co-opt the Barry Goldwater play re the Civil Rights Act; and Rick Santorum-- as well as Newt Gingrich, might I add-- may as well drop out and join the Democrats and let the real and viable Republican, Mitt Romney, take the 2012 GOP nomination. But Santorum and Gingrich may be as the Democrats and RINOs-- too graceless and arrogant to take the quiet way out of a losing game for them; as Congressman Dennis Kucinich demonstrated that Democrats, with few exceptions, do, by the way.

At My Age And With My Health Status...
I'm 22. I need roughly 10-12 hours of sleep. Barring the Rapture, with the stomach bug that I've had for the past two days, I would be in the bed right now. But Ohio has yet to be called. So, until Ohio's called, my getting-old, with-health-issues self will have to wait and stay up.

Purim Is Tomorrow, And Thank G-d That Haman (Ron Paul) Hasn't Won...
But Newt Gingrich has a real Haman or Ahasuerus complex. He is arrogant, looks at the "elite" and "establishment" like Vashti (that is, Gingrich doesn't find having self respect and a little good kind of pride acceptable; just like Ahasuerus didn't find Vashti's self respect and pride acceptable), and has hutzpah-- Haman had hutzpah to step on the Jews, the blessings to the nations; Gingrich has hutzpah to step on the voters who are hoping to defeat Obama, and the voters (who include Jews like myself) could well be blessings to Israel (if we don't vote for arrogant Newt, Santorum, and Ron Paul-- the especial Haman-- anyway).
The GOP will not be a party just for show and a party to be a crown jewel for both the Far Right (who do not speak for the Republican Party) and Obama (who would love to show a defeatable candidate as his weak, too-pretty Vashti; his prize)
By the way, how Vashti got kicked out of the palace of Ahasuerus:
10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, 11 to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. 12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him.
13 Then the king said to the wise men who understood the times (for this was the king’s manner toward all who knew law and justice, 14 those closest to him being Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who had access to the king’s presence, and who ranked highest in the kingdom): 15 “What shall we do to Queen Vashti, according to law, because she did not obey the command of King Ahasuerus brought to her by the eunuchs?”
16 And Memucan answered before the king and the princes: “Queen Vashti has not only wronged the king, but also all the princes, and all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus. 17 For the queen’s behavior will become known to all women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when they report, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought in before him, but she did not come.’ 18 This very day the noble ladies of Persia and Media will say to all the king’s officials that they have heard of the behavior of the queen. Thus there will be excessive contempt and wrath. 19 If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she. 20 When the king’s decree which he will make is proclaimed throughout all his empire (for it is great), all wives will honor their husbands, both great and small.”
Jewish Sources On "HaSatan" or "The Adversary", or "The Devil"
BecomingJewish.org:
Satan
Firstly, "the Devil" and "Satan" are one and the same - I think this nomenclature is used interchangeably rather than to show they are different entities.
Satan is indeed G-d's angel (messenger) sent with the explicit purpose of making us the best we can be - challenging us to do the right thing by presenting a not-so-clear choice. Remember Deuteronomy 30 - choose between life and good, or death and evil - and we are perfectly capable of making the right choice. Satan is sent to not throw you off the righteous path, but to help you walk it in a more confident way.
Hashem gives us all our challenges in order for us to overcome them and become stronger. Only in adversity do we grow; otherwise, we would not advance at all. It doesn't mean Hashem sends Satan to drive you into evil; He sends Satan so you could choose good and therefore become more like Hashem.
The statement you quoted correctly states that evil is created only by the absence of good. Speaking in more spiritual terms, G-d is the ultimate good, and everything is G-d, so evil appears with G-dlessness. We are constantly challenged to stay on the side of light, on the side of good, on the side of G-d - that way, we are actually active participants in the process of creation...

Satan
Satan, or more properly, HaSatan is an angel who resides in the heavenly realm. HaSatan means the accuser or the adversary. The term Satan or HaSatan is used in three different contexts within the Tanach.[1]
First, as an enemy in war as seen in I Kings 5:18: And now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, (there is) neither adversary (שָׂטָן) nor evil occurrence.[2]
Second, as an accuser before the seat of judgment as seen in Psalm 109:6: Set a wicked man over him, and let an adversary (וְשָׂטָן) stand at his right hand.[2]
Third, as an adversary in the general sense of the term as seen in II Samuel 19:23...
HaSatan is an angel who watches over the activities of humanity, searching for mankind’s sins and then appearing as their accuser to Hashem. HaSatan is not considered an opponent to Hashem as Christianity teaches. Monotheistic teachings are no more disturbed by the existence of HaSatan than by the presence of other beings that go before Hashem. This view is shown in Zechariah 3:1-2 where HaSatan is described as the adversary of the high priest Joshua....
Ha-satan is Identified with the Yetzer Ra:
In Judaism, ha-satan (the adversary) is mostly identified with the yetzer ra, but also identified with one who leads astray, then brings accusations against man. Its chief functions is those of temptation, accusation and punishment. Under the control of G-d it acts solely with divine permission to carry out its deeds.
As we see in the book of Iyov, ha-satan's function is described as that of testing the sincerity of men's characters. Ha-satan is at all times under the control of G-d and keeps within the limits which G-d has fixed for it.
In Talmudic literature, ha-satan's function is to strengthen man's moral sense by lending him into temptation....

In Case You Were Too Tired Or Even Too Lazy To Read Some of the YNet Comments For Yourself...
- I reported this comment for hate speech against a religious group. "hey Paolo in Italy you sold us out to the Nazis so instead of killing Catholics who believe all the Jews are going to hell we just won't deliver their bs bubbemeisers :D"
This comment I concurred with except for the "ignorant" part
Only ignorance + fear could drive such hatred
If it's nonsense, then what is there to fear? Why hate? Why not have compassion and educate the ignorant instead of making enemies of them?
Thinking Jew , real world (03.05.12) i want to throw up
great done postmen!!!! im not going to express my real opinions about that heretic called "jesus" cause ynet wouldnt post my comment lol but u can imagine
(03.05.12)esty This was the highly-inappropriate comment that I referenced:
24. A question to the Israel Postal company
Israel Postal Company officials responded: "The Israel Postal Company is a governmental company operating in accordance to the Postal Law, which obligates us to distribute any mail it receives. The Israel Postal Company has no right or ability to chose what it can or cannot distribute...". Now my question. Would they distribute Hitler's "Mein Kampf" translated into Hebrew or "The Protocols of the Zion Sages" - in accordance with the Postal Law?

To Correct pboisei And Others About Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism
Reform Judaism does believe in Israel as the chosen people in the privilege-and-responsibility sense. Reconstructionist Judaism believes in responsibility chosenness. Mordekhai HaKohen (Moredechai Kaplan) specifically founded Reconstructionist Judaism on that principle and other principles: "Kaplan rejected several traditional Jewish categories, most notably Chosenness. He felt that the term was misunderstood and too often taken as a sign of Jewish superiority, when instead it was conceived as an expression of Jewish obligation to God and humanity. So, too, Kaplan rejected the idea of a personal messiah (that is, that God will send a messiah in the form of a human being). He wrote the "Sabbath Prayer Book" in which he expunged both notions from the prayers. Some Reconstructionist synagogues employ a different version of the Torah blessings to this day, avoiding the phrase "...asher bachar banu mi-kol ha-amim..." (...Who chose us from all the peoples...)."
Reform Judaism "views the idea of the Chosen People as a metaphor for the choices we make in our lives. All Jews are Jews-by-Choice in that every person must make a decision, at some point in their lives, whether or not they want to live Jewishly. Just as God chose to give the Torah to the Israelites, modern Jews must decide whether they want to be in a relationship with God."
