Constitutionally, D.C. was never intended to be a state. It was deliberately set aside as a district to represent all states.

Pay attention.

The federal district would be shrunk down to just the government buildings. That would remain Washington, DC.

The private residences and businesses outside of that would become a new state.

And you would just leave the capital plonked right in the middle of the state? It would make no sense. Just leave DC as is or give Marylander DC back to Maryland and Virginian DC back to Virginia. In fact, that might actually make the Democrats happier and give them two now-larger-and-majority-Democratic states and not violate the Constitution.

Doesn't violate the constitution.

The capital is already surrounded by one state with another.across a river. So nothing there changes.

MD legislators oppose incorporating DC into the state nearly 10 to 1 and MD citizens 4 to 1. So that's out.

I swear I've never seen so many Americans so openly opposed to democracy.

He’s not making the point that he likes to think that he’s making when he saying that DC would be a state divided by a river. PS the US is also a republic, not a democracy.

Commentary: Even If Drugs Would Have Killed George Floyd, Derek Chauvin Is Still Responsible. Why?

The simple fact is that Derek Chauvin (who also has a known history of Anti-Black racism) kneeled on George Floyd’s neck for nine minutes and 29 seconds, and even after George Floyd indicated that he was done resisting arrest. He also made no effort to render any medical aid which he could render to him. In other words, even if the drugs would’ve ultimately killed George Floyd, Derek Chauvin’s kneeling on his neck and his deliberate failure to render any medical aid which he could render certainly exacerbated his situation. Besides, many people have survived having had a more-significant amount of drugs in their systems, and it is therefore very likely that George Floyd could’ve easily survived were he rendered the proper medical aid (that is, given drug-withdrawal aids at the scene and transported to a hospital for additional treatment) and not asphyxiated.

Knowing all of this, the jury made the right call and justly convicted the racist, careless, and callous—and not to mention attempted gaslighter—Derek Chauvin—and the jury thankfully saw through his attempted gaslighting as he conveniently changed his story from blaming drugs to claiming that he did not mean to use unlawful force that he in fact did mean to use while he also blamed the drugs.

Commentary: Pandemics, Returnees To Pet Shelters, And Life Lessons For Self-Righteous Polly Parrots

In the comment section of an article on Facebook about a record number of pets being returned to shelters as the COVID-19 pandemic begins to subside, I saw that some people would like their daily pats on the back for self righteousness— and one even went as far as to wish that Covid had wiped out the people whom would return their pets (of course, I reported him or her for advocating bioterrorism). I guarantee that the self-righteous—so to speak—Polly Parrots who want their crackers have absolutely no idea what some of these people may have been going through, and giving up their pets may have been the hardest decision that many of them ever made.

I also guarantee that if and/or when some of the self-righteous people whom have made comments here get into situations in which they would ever be forced to give up their own pets or have to consider giving up their own pets, their self righteousness will come back to haunt them—especially if they have no one whom can or will step up to help them care for their pets if and/or when they cannot care for them independently.

God (or life, karma, or whoever or however else you want to describe whomever or whatever) has His (or hers, its, etc.) ways of teaching the self righteous humility and compassionless compassion, and those ways often involve the very kind of situations in which the self-righteous and the compassionless left others as they looked down upon them.
