#SillySaturday: just for fun...

How to cope with cold-weather and celebrate upcoming birthdays (These two puppies have Gregorian birthdays in March, and one has a Hebrew birthday this upcoming month— assuming that there is no Second Adar in 5780):

“When your favorite towel becomes like a favorite blankie, use it as a blankie and tolerate pictures if at least you look cute enough in your blankie.” -Reilly

“Tolerate just enough when the humans try to put birthday costumes on you – you turn only whatever age once each year.” - Reilly and Camille

A Reminder For Those of Us With “gentile” DNA When We’re Jews

Not all Jews receive what is Jewish DNA, especially due to intermarriages and other interrelationships, whether or not they were consensual. Also, keep in mind that many markers that are Jewish have yet to be identified as such. I figured out that pretty quickly with my own line showed showing atDNA as Western Ukrainian when it is clearly not. I know that I didn’t get it from my dad, as he inherited apparently other “Eastern European“ DNA. I also know that my mom is not of Ukrainian descent— I’m pretty sure, as well, that I can pinpoint that it was the Lehr family from whom I got the “Western Ukrainian“ DNA, as there were Lehrs in Bytom and we were in Rotenberg al der Fulda (both formerly a part of Prussia), and Ukraine is not too far away from either of those. I am also aware of other Jewish ancestry in her line, and autosomal DNA is also a new science. PS We were also affected by the pogroms and other Anti Semitism. For example, the grandparents of my paternal grandfather stopped talking to our side of the family because his parents converted right after the Farber-Kogan incident that would unfortunately be exploited to incite the Belostok Pogrom. We had been in Lipsk but were exiled to Szumowo, though my great-grandfather was born in Tsuman’—his mother had relatives in Ukraine, including in Buzhanka outside of Zvenyhorodka. His birth, however, was registered in Szumowo, which my great-great-grandfather gave as “Sumeve” at Antwerpen.

Belated Día de Los Tres Reyes Card With Disclaimer

This card was planned before the events on that particular Día de Los Tres Reyes, and "Momma" has consistently been a #NeverTrump Republican--even going so far as to explain to Reilly that Donald Trump is "a mean old man", "not nice", etc. To not let what happened on that certain day ruin everything, "Momma" is posting the card.

Belated Three Kings Day card. The Spanish text reads: 1) "I am a queen! In fact, I have my own banner!" and "Happy Belated Three Kings Day!"

#WednesdayWisdom and a Bit of an “¡Eye Carumba! Moment

“Momma” originally was going to ask Reilly some questions about the current political situation in ways that puppies can understand it. P.D. Lo siento si el retruécano te ha ofendido.

#FluffyFriday: Photoshoot For A Preview Of...

A belated Día de Los Tres Reyes card.

¿Posiblemente, Reily piense que ella es una reina? ¡Por supuesto, le piense que ella es--¡no "está"; "es"!

New Year's Weekend Card From Reilly and Camille...With A Bit of A "Golden Girls"-esque Quip on Someone's Part...

PS Of course, Camille didn't really make that quip; although she might if she were a human and not a puppy (as Maltipoos can be a little mischievous).

PPS The character is the Japanese "Un", for "good luck" or "fortune".

Camille the Begrudgingly-Supportive Furniece

“Make one of your #NewYearsResolutions to #read one of Auntie Nicole’s books!” - Camille (begrudgingly, mainly because she didn’t like the camera being on autoflash)

#ThrowbackThursday: Temperature Check

Getting a fever at the vet’s on Tuesday due to anxiety (as her “Mom-Mom” says that she gets when she goes to the vet) did not help. The vet, however, said that she also had a  bit of a hard time taking care of Reilly because Reilly (since she does love her vet) would not stop demanding scritches and belly rubs! So, at least Reilly did not have too hard of a time at the vet! nonetheless, she had to get her temperature checked yesterday as a precaution.

Commentary: Advice that I gave a Redditor

For context and the original reply (e.g., without spelling and grammar corrections), see the original reply on Reddit.

Keep in mind that either there were no local Jewish cemeteries in some communities or your ancestors for whatever reason either married outside of the traditional Jewish faith or were converted to Christianity—whether willingly or forcibly. Anusim v’bnei Anusim Ashkenazim (Ashkenazi Crypto Jews and descendents thereof) get overlooked a lot, mainly because many of us ended up believing (and still believe) in Jesus and/or otherwise did (and/or do) not fit the mold of what Anusim are apparently supposed to be: Sephardi, secretly Rabbinically Jewish (Both secret Karaites and Jesus-believing Anusim get overlooked.), not mixed blooded (or if we are, straight-down-matrilineally Jewish), and willing to reconvert to traditional (i.e., Rabbinical) Judaism if we end up finding out that we’re Jewish.

Just because some people (perhaps even within your own family) when to tell you that you’re not Jewish just because you’re not religiously Rabbinically Jewish, that does not mean that you are not Jewish. I have had the same problem with people trying to tell me that my ethnicity is contingent on my religion and my blood purity (it is sickening; and I have had people tell me that because I did not get the luck of getting known autosomal JewishDNA according to some websites, I am apparently not Jewish.). Don’t let the limpiezistas (blood purists) and others get to rob you of your heritage.

PS This also applies in regards to the racist activist group at one university—“limpieza de sangre” and inquisitions of any kind have no place in any decent society.

Reilly Can’t(?) Jump On the Chair

It’s more like that she pretends that she can’t.

#SillySunday: Birdies!

PS An irony: Reilly understands the concept of Santa more than she does audio recording and playback. Then again, every puppy (just like every human toddler) is different—although audio recording and playback would conceivably seem easier for a puppy and a toddler to understand.
