Admittedly, the disgusting part is that I look like a szlachta posing like this. I suppose that if there was a portrait of a szlachta żydowska, I could get away with this (and there apparently were some Morgiewiczes who were szlachty [if they're Morgiewiczes who are related to us, I mean]; and given that they were targeted in the January Uprising, they probably are. If you think that the Russians didn't like Polish and other Non-Russian szlachty [much less Poles and other Non Russians], you can imagine how they treated szlachty żydowscy as well as Yehudim ha'aretz).



That's the only part that I'm honestly not proud of (unless, again, a szlachta żydowska posed like this. Otherwise, I've touched my own nerve here; especially since my family was deliberately falsely connected to the Anti-Semitic Stefan Czarniecki, and the sad part is that we did that in order to conceal that we are Litvak Czernieckis.

(Granted that there were also Philosemitic szlatchy [and szlachty żydowscy]. Still, I feel pretty bad about posing like this, especially if I was bringing to mind Anti Semites like the unfortunately-iconic Stefan Czarniecki. Then again, my OCD/GAD could be bringing on or exacerbating unnecessary guilt about this photo.).

• "Shalom l'kulam" means "peace for all". You could reply "Shalom l'at[a]" (singular "Peace for you") or "Shalom l'ate[m/n]" (plural, "Peace for you"). 

[The original answer. Since he asked about "Shalom l'kulam" and I wasn't thinking of object forms of Hebrew pronouns, I didn't give correct answers. To be fair, though, my native language is not Hebrew (although it is my ethnic/national language). Also, as I note, I did not know that I am Jewish.

• As for a bar mitzvah, he is a "son [of the] commandment". A bat mitzvah is a "daughter [of the] commandment". B'nai Mitzvah ("sons [of the] commandment") are found in all denominations (Messianic and Non Messianic); and so are Banot Mitzvah ("daughters [of the] commandment), although only in Messianic and Non-Messianic Liberal denominations do banot mitzvah have teqesim l'b'nai mitzvah (bar- and bat-mitzvah ceremonies). I myself, by the way, did not have a teqes l'bat mitzvah. This is because I did not know that I am Jewish until I was 18 years old.

[By the way, another wrong answer. Non-Liberal denominations do have teqesim l'banot mitzvah nowadays. Nonetheless, teqesim l'b'nai mitzvah are still considered more of teqesim l'yeladim.]

The Jewish "Race" or Ethnos: Are We White or Olive?

While the debate continues, let's be very clear about whether Jews are White

Actually, we're Olive. There are six "races"/macro-ethnic groups: the White (European), Black (African), Yellow (Asian/"Oriental"), Brown (e.g., Mexica, Taino), Red (as in Native North American; not the general "אדום", which אום was ), and Olive (e.g., Israelite/Jewish, Ishmaelite-Edomite/Arab, Iberian) "races". Many of us are products of inter-"racial"/interethnic unions, and we're nonetheless Olive-even if, e.g., we look White because of some Slav who converted to Judaism or because our gene pool microevolved to make us look White.

Was John Paul the Second Actually Jewish? Well...

Leave to thinking about that to someone at PolishForums.com. I had already heard that "Kacz" could be "Katz". Today, I (as far as I recall) got to thinking that maybe "Kacz-o-row-ski" may be "ה]בן [ה ]כ"צ ורב]". By breakdown:

1. "ה]בן]" is "ski" ("[the] son")
2. "ה ]כ"צ]" is "Kacz" ("[the] kohen tzedek")
3. "ורב" is explained by the fact that "rov" is "Rav" or "Rabbi" or "great" in Ashkenazi Hebrew and standard Yiddish. So, John Paul's maternal family may well have come from a rabbi who was a kohen, a great man, or both.

Incidentally, there may have been another Jewish Pope: Benedict XVI, who was apparently a descendant of Rabbi Judah Loew. By the way, I can safely say that I had taken Matthew 23:8-10 too far, although old habits die hard and I still feel guilty or unsure about using words like "rabbi" and "pope".

I Don't Have Everything In Front Of Me Right Now; And Let Me Nonetheless Address That...

I have no "need" to be Jewish. I do have a need, however, to (figuratively) wrangle some necks. As happens to be the case, I'm a Levite (Levai, Foczko, Rusznak) and a kohenet (Duday, Gajdosz, possibly Andrulevicus, possibly Lazar), and other tribes (perhaps Issachar with "Trudnyak" coming from the Old Polish "Trojdnik" or something along those lines; perhaps Judah with "Munka", given that it may be Solomonic). I'm also related to Kirk Douglas (When one guy originally asked me, I said "No." I thought that "Danilovich" was a patronymic. I couldn't have been more wrong. Incidentally, I wonder who one of our relatives is "fucking psycho" now.).

I was lied to for years, and I'm still trying to process that I'm a Jew and a bat-Anusim, as well as related to Kirk Douglas (and now I know that half of the meshugas comes from the Danilowicz/Danilovich side. I figured that it was the Andrulevicuses/Andrulewiczes; but Great-Great-Grandma Czerniecki was somehow a Danilowicz. Also, now I can see who Pop-Pop inherited quite a bit of his looks from.).

By the way, back to the Andrulevicuses for a moment: one was named "Kasis Andrulewitz". What I'm trying to figure out is if that comes from "Cassis" or "Kassis" ("Cohen" or "Kohen") or qasis (Ashkenazi Hebrew for "כתית" or "qatit").

It means, "I do aliyah, Yehovah willing!" To make a long story short, I have been going through a difficult time right now and was having temptations of self harm again. Yehovah (ברוך הוא.) must've heard my cries. I didn't solicit the opportunity to make aliyah, although I've desired to do so if Yehovah ever wills that I should do. But, lo and behold, someone (I won't say who for right now.) asked me if I'm Israeli, etc. and wanted to make aliyah. So, again, Yehovah must've heard my cries.

I told my contact frankly that:

1. I'm a Patrilineal Jew.
2. I'm a Messianic Jew.
3. The חרדים (the so-called "יהודים אורתודוקסים" and "חסידים") would want to rid of me quickly.

He or she understands my concerns; and believe me when I say that I am not considering (let alone jumping at) this opportunity lightly, and:

1. I'm not content with being one who is "“settled” in New York and New Jersey."
2. I take ספר ירמיהו וכל תנ''ך seriously. That includes פרקים ירמיהו 8 ו 16.
3. Since Jews who "saw themselves as “settled” in New York and New Jersey" have chosen death rather than life (See פרק ירמיהו 8.) and those of us who live (Jewish and gentile) are all headed to Israel at some point, anyway (See פרק ירמיהו 16.), I might as well go as early as possible and while I can choose life rather than death.
4. I've already had discouragement. When I told two family members that I have a contact who offered to help me, one disbelieved me and said that I'd end up right in the sex trade if I trusted my contact.

So, I'll be doing תפילות, צומות, ותעניות, and asking others to do the same with and for me.  I'll also be retaking up רוזטה סטון בעברית (Using גוגל and קונקורדנציה סטרונג does not suffice.). I'll also be looking at הספרים ומילון מ'כיתה העברית שלי.

Besides, I need a תחלה חדשה, and this might be it.

Hungary, the Holocaust, And the Russian Pale

As quite a few have requested, Hungary is hopefully starting to work on curbing or eradicating its Anti Semitism (for the time being. After all, (יהוה (ב''ה warned that all nations but for Israel and the remnants of every other nation would come to end.). After all (as at least some people have learned, and I think because of בני אנוסים like me), Hungary was a hub for אנוסים from the Warszawa, Radom, and Lodz Foc(z)kos to (as I found out recently) some Andreloviches (which surprised me) and the Trudnyaks (who, as an 1811 baptism record indicates, originally came from Krakow gubernia after they had already allegedly fled Jablunka in Moravia), to openly-Jewish Jews like the Rusznaks and Uszinskys (and the Uszinskys did indeed sneak out of the Russian Pale and/or Congress Poland into Saros megye—I just don't know exactly when or from where). Incidentally, I think that "Jablunka" was actually "Jablonka" in Nowy Targ—as Great-Great-Granddad Trudnyak (ז''ל) claimed to be born in Kacwin, and his wife (ז''ל) claimed to be born in Lapsze Nizne and resided in Nowa Biala before she left for New Jersey.

Even though Hungary forced all Jews to have surnames by 1787 and had nominal religious freedom by 1868, it was actually a hub for escaping openly-Jewish Jews and אנוסים. It was also a hub for those who became אנוסים in Hungary and stayed there. Even Wikipedia, for example, begrudges that the Hungarian city of Aranyida (now Zlata Idka, Slovakia) is "almost entirely Slovak in ethnicity". The begrudgement was written when the Wikipedia page, which was last edited on September 17th of 2013, was first written on September 15, 2006. So, even Wikipedia concedes that some Non-Slovakian ethnic groups reside there, and has done so since 2006—long before I knew who the Foczkos and Rusznaks really were—and that אנוסים and בני אנוסים resided in an "almost entirely Slovak" small town must really wrangle them, since (as I've learned from experience) they don't like אנוסים and בני אנוסים, or יהודים משיחיים (especially יהודים משיחיים  who are בני אנוסים).

By the way, Kacwin is "Kaczvin" or "Kacvin"; Lapsze Nizne is "Alsolapos"; Jablonka is just Jablonka, and Nowa Biala is Ujbela. As for Saros megye, that covered a broad range of Slovakia and Hungary. Also, notice that the Trudnyaks allegedly fled from Moravia in the Austrian Empire into Hungary (before it was a part of Austria Hungary), the Foczkos and Uszinskys fled in Hungary, and Michael and Anna Munkova Trudnyak (my Trudnyak great-great-grandparents) claimed to be born in Polish-Slovakian Hungarian small towns (and to be fair, Anna Munkova did reside in Nowa Biala and was named after her Levoca [Locse]-born and -baptized sister. Mihaly Trudnyak, however, was baptized in the Nagy hub of Terezvarosi, Budapest—and the Nagys were אנוסים who were far from Kacwin, and certainly not in the Austrian part of Austrian Hungary at any time!).

In conclusion, Hungary (at least for the time being) is hopefully becoming the country to whose dependencies and proper אנוסים and open Jews fled, and where quite a few אנוסים who became אנוסים stayed.

So, basically, we're—unless we're "Millersons"—sons of Matthew or "things of Matthew" (Nice! In all seriousness, Jews didn't always get desirable names.). I don't know whether this Matthew was one in the Diaspora or even מתתיהו התלמיד himself (if מתתיהו התלמיד had any children, and any children that stayed in or reverted to Non-Messianic Judaism. On the other hand, they could have been children who were Messianic and became part of the lost tribes and/or completely assimilated and absorbed, since I know of no Messianic lines that have been fully Messianic since the time of התלמידים ושליחים.). He could've even been מתתיהו המכבי, but this is doubtful.

By the way, I had to play around with Google Translate, take Hebrew 101, etc. to get the Hebrew. I am not translating this for you; so, look it up and/or otherwise learn it for yourself—to do so is the best way to learn it for yourself. I grant that some would say, "Well, didn't you have people teach you and otherwise help you learn?" כן, and I had to—עם עזרת וחן יהוה— be a willing תלמידה.

Geraldo's probably going to hate me for that, and I may not be his favorite tweeter anymore; but, c'mon—I was under anesthesia on both July 17th and July 18th. Plus, I was in Johns Hopkins until July 22nd, and then Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital until August 2nd. Furthermore, they had to give me caffeine and have me drink coffee to prevent further caffeine withdrawal and headaches. All I got was a few visits, comic books back from my dad, and a few other things).
4. My granddad passing.
5. My dad disowning me—but at least I got the atDNA test from him before he did.
6. Great-Granduncle Andy's passing—that's huge, given that my generation of Fosko Rusnaks is second in line to carry to torch (Dad's is the first.).
7. The first year that I did not attend the DeBoy Family Reunion (I was recovering from ITB Pump Surgery).
8. Almost (almost!) graduating college (One more paper to revise and turn in!).
9. Having major people follow me on Twitter
10. Figuring out that I'm related to Thomas Andrew, Michael Andrews, and Kirk Douglas (By the way, some of 2012 is going to have overlapped into 2013.).
11. Getting a resume written (Well, my friend wrote it for me. I still owe him a handmade tallit, even if I don't ultimately use the resume that he wrote.).
12. Being a formal סטודנטית ללשון העברית—and getting an "A" in הכיתה. (Of course, I don't why I thought "הרבה" was "class" as I was typing this.).
13. Turning 23 on January 23 (Ok, I really turned 23 on January 12, 1990; since that was טבת 26, 5773. יהוה, ברוך הוא, goes by the lunar Hebrew year. In Gregorian terms, I did turn 23 on the 23rd of January.).
14. Getting bullied by and watching vengeance against Krystal Keith and her dad.
15. Beginning to write my family-history memoir.
16. My aunt attempting suicide (I sat שבע for her for an hour days before—that was a big deal, and I didn't know that that's why she moved without telling me.).

By the way, my mom feels that 2014 is going to be my year...we'll see, Mom.

Status Update For November 11, 2013 at 2:51:24 AM

I still found no baptism record for Ilona Lazarova Hanzokova; but I did find some for (I think) some cousins of hers. It looks like she became an Anusit later on—and after some family had already become Anusim (just like with the Foczkos—we didn't join Anusi relatives until 50 years or more after they had become Anusim. The Foczkos had gone to Gelnica and Kosjov first. Then we came into Zlata Idka. As far as the Lazars, we were either already in Zlata Idka or came there from another city in Moldava nad Bodvou—since Ilona doesn't have a baptism record, I can't tell you. Apparently, all of them but for Ilona and her family became Anusim in the 1760s-1810s. There were some open Jews in Zlata Idka, and there are even Jewish graves there; but I can't tell you whether they're Lazar graves or not.).

As much as anyone wants to try to dispute (and as much as the Devil wants to whisper doubts) that we're bnei-Anusim, we're bnei-Anusim (and some of us are still Anusim, clearly. Feel free to do the searches yourself, by the way, in case you're doubting me:

The Disgustingness of Legalism

I'm embarrassed that many here are forgetting Genesis 50:20, 1 Samuel 16:7, Acts 15, Romans 14, and Colossians 2:13-17, among other verses. First of all, Yeshua made a New Covenant and nailed the 613 mitzvot to the Cross (though some remain--see Acts 15, e.g.). Secondly, a holiday that Yeshua celebrated, namely Hanukkah, comes from a pagan tradition. Thirdly, your Yahushua or Yahushishi or whoever you worship in the place of Yeshua is not the Mashiach. "I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,  which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ." (Galatians 1:6-7) Yeshua is clearly useless to you, since you pursue your own righteousness through Torah. "I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”" (Galatians 2:21) Only non-believing Jews are still under the Old Covenant. "For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."

By the way, Sha'ul once persecuted Yeshua. Think about that if and when you persecute Sha'ul and say that Sha'ul (who became Paul) was not following Yeshua. "But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ." (Galatians 1:11-12). You are doing to both Sha'ul and ultimately Yeshua what Sha'ul once did to Yeshua.

Object as you will, but then why does Yirimiyahu prophesy the following? Chapter 1

"Out; out!" they screamed. And that was that--Kehillath Kodesh Adas Israel had kicked him out, sat shiva for him, and sent him packing. He mumbled, "You can't even get your damned Hebrew right!" So much for Liberal, or Progressive, or Tolerant, or Inclusive, or whatever-the-Hell "Judaism" they called it, anyway--besides, they had to liberalize (really, bastardize) the Hebrew, anyway: it was "Kehillat-Kodesh Adat Yisra'el", anyway. 

He was angry enough that he couldn't think clearly. How dare they deal with him in that manner! "Liberal" in zayn tuchus! "Progresiv" in zayn tuchus! "Tolera'nt" in zayn tuchus! "Far kirev" in zayn tuchus! He wasn't a cursing man, but fury raged within him--he had been treated in such a shlekht shteyger, and he was a Levite! How dare those Yisra'elim! How dare those 'am-ha'aretz! How dare those minim!

He used the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad to catch a train as far away from Louisville as possible--to somewhere, to anywhere, and to somewhere and anywhere but Louisville. He just didn't know where. Un "Brith Sholom" in zayn tuchus--an adat-l'hab'rit-shalom surely wouldn't kick an ish l'shalom out of any "Brith Sholom"--which, to him, would still and always be "Kehillat-Kodesh Adat Yisra'el", "Holy Community of the Congregation of Israel". 

Chapter 2

40 years later, and his life had completely changed--he was born when his now-ex congregation was founded, of age when the Emancipation Proclamation was made (for Sefer-B'Midbar read "Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by the descent from their fathers, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel."), and now of age plus a score of years. Incidentally--or perhaps not so--, he was of the same number of years as Moses when Moses' life changed--as the New Testament read, "And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel. And seeing one of them suffer wrong , he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed , and smote the Egyptian: For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not."

As Moses' life had changed over the course of a day, so also did the life of this Levite. He hadn't intended to change his life overnight--or, since his conversion happened during the day and as he thus joked to himself, "overday". He took a covered wagon to Cincinnati, Ohio, and then a train to Baltimore, Maryland. Finding no church with which he was satisfied or any Hebrew Christian congregation, he worshiped alone in his home on the Jewish and the traditional Christian Sabbaths--Saturday and Sunday, although some Christians observed their Sabbath on Saturday like the Jews did.

Then one day, he received a mysterious letter: "Mister Leve, a rumor concerning you is as such--that your Jewish neighbors have spied on you, since they have suspected you to be a Hebrew Christian among them. The rumor is also that you worship alone. ' Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised ;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching .'

"Mister Leve, if you insist on worshiping in your home, then I insist that we start a congregation in your home--for I am a Hebrew Christian myself, and many establish congregations within various' congregants' homes. The rumor, by the way, continues that your former congregation is Brith Sholom of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations--which, as I have heard and as I mention incidentally, has congregants among it that called their denomination of Judaism "Liberal" or "Progressive" before the Union itself did (and I would credit them as prescient and clairvoyant in that matter if only their denomination were "liberal" and "progressive", for who can have true liberty in worship and progress in his growth of faith without first having liberty and growth in Yeshua our Messiah?")

"Therefore, I propose that we found a congregation in your home and christen it 'Kehillat-Kodesh b'Chofesh-Ha'Emet'--'Holy Congregation In Freedom of the Truth'. By the way, I have no knowledge of how fluent you are in Hebrew; so I hope that you don't mind that I transliterated and translated my Hebrew name for your congregation for you.

"Shalom b'HaShem-Yeshua Mishichenu--Peace In the Name of Jesus our Messiah."

Patricia Evans' Power-Over and Personal-Power Models In My Own Life

While I've made no claim to be perfect in or right about every matter, person, and factor in life and the afterlife, I certainly--as Shemoth cited on Twitter today--am trying to do what David did. "Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God." In his case, David was dealing with wiping out the Amalekites who had captured Ziklag. In my case, I'm dealing with people who are trying to use the Power-Over Model over me in every way that they can.

If you're one of those people, know who you are; be outraged; even want to stone me; but Yehovah is stronger than you and me alike. One or more of the following applies to you, and may Yehovah convict you for it:

1. You are a family member with some degree of seniority over me.
2. You are a person with some degree of authority over me.
3. You know that I am a Jew and a descendant of Jews, and of gentiles of Jewish descent. You may even be one of my ancestors or in at least one of the generations of at least one of them. 
4. You know that I am the descendant of Crypto Jews and do not hide that I am a bat-Anusim.
5. You know that I am a Messianic Jew and do not hide that I am Messianic.
6. You know that there is truth outside of the Written Word (the Scriptures), and that God is proven true both inside and outside of Scripture--or else He would not be Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent.
7. You know that I have Cerebral Palsy, OCD/Anxiety, MDD, ADD, and IBS.
8. You know that I am a survivor of abuse and have an otherwise-sordid--even though redeemable--family history. You may even be part of who affected or even caused the abuse and sordidness. 
9. You know that especially 1, 2, 7, and 8 can be used to try to control me. You may have even used 1, 2, 7, and 8 to try to control me (e.g., what I post--v.g.--on my Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts).
10. You hypocritically cite the Constitution--v.g., the First Amendment--and claim yourself to be a Constitutionalist and a conservative.

Firstly, let me cite Amendment Nine for you: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." Secondly, let me cite the Scriptures (since you may, after all, claim that that's the place wherein truth lies): "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge." and "[I]f this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing;  but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found to fight against God." After all, the same Scriptures say that God did not call:

1. The righteous, but the sinners.
2. The well, but the sick.
3. The wise, but the foolish.
4. The scholars, but the unlearned.

Thirdly, more from the Scriptures will I cite! "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." Don't play games with me, by the way--I'm not talking about Social Security numbers, home addresses, or other information that only you and certain other people need to know. I'm talking about, e.g., what was done to Vilmosz and his side of the Rusnak family, and--idem. v.q.--what we escaped from by becoming Anusim and what others may not know is in the Talmud. 

Fourthly, I'm not done helping others just because I'm done helping quite a few of you. I've done my job, and trouble will not fall on my house, and "When my father and my mother forsake me, [t]hen the Lord will take care of me." I look to an eternal reward, and I can only imagine what you look to: at least, you look to only a little reward.

I've said my shalom. Now, so to speak, the ball's in your court. You can either try to keep having Power Over me or letting G-d have power over all of us.

Are Non-Messianic Jews Legalists?

I was writing a blog entry on Valentine's Day. Then this came up.

sees almost every day, if not every day, why Non-Messianic Jews have an excuse to laugh at us: our hypocritical, out-of-bounds legalism. For example, as much as I love Samuel Rodriguez, there is no way that I'm letting him get away with connecting Ash Wednesday to Tammuz. Even if (as his legalistic friend alleges, and he realleged) the sign of the Cross is connected to Tammuz and a costume thereof (of which I have never seen nor heard), the Church redeemed it. Ever heard of tikun-ha'olam? We don't implement it, though we have the strength given to us by Yeshua Ha'Mashiach; and then we wonder why Non-Messianic Jews find us to be hypocrites who have no real interest in tzedek.

Yo veo casi todos los días, si no todos los días, por qué Judios quién son no Judios Mesiánicos tener una excusa para reírse de nosotros: nuestra hipócrita, fuera de límites legalismo. Por ejemplo, por mucho que me encanta Samuel Rodríguez, no hay manera de que yo voy a dejar que se salga con la conexión del Miércoles de Ceniza a Tamuz. No lo ponemos en práctica, aunque tenemos la fuerza que Ha'Mashiach Yeshua nos da, y luego nos preguntamos por qué Judios quién son no Judios Mesiánicos encuentran que somos hipócritas que no tienen ningún interés real en tzedek.

  Where does having a clergyman paint black cross on your forehead as a sign of starting a fast, and go telling your friends what you gave up for lent, fit in even with the above commandment of your messiah?

  Nicole Maratovah Czarnecki Firstly, many Non Messianics follow the spirit of Torah as opposed to the letter--even if they do not believe in the inerrancy of Torah or the rest of Tanakh, much less in Yeshua as Masiach. In fact, Reform Judaism is very clear: "This early radicalism was mentioned in the 1885 Pittsburgh Platform, which dismisses "such Mosaic and rabbinical laws as regulate diet, priestly purity and dress" as anachronisms that only obstruct spirituality in the modern age. The platform stressed that Reform Jews must only be accepting of laws that they feel "elevate and sanctify our lives" and must reject those customs and laws that are "not adapted to the views and habits of modern civilization.""   Reform Judaism continues this thinking today: " Some institutions are considered to be a product of the cultural milieu and societal norms of the ancient Near East when the Hebrew Scriptures were written down, and do not speak to our lives today.   Reform Judaism even mentions that Judaism is, or at least should not be, "frozen in time". Therefore, legalism would be--for example--following some "societal norms of the ancient Near East when the Hebrew Scriptures were written down"--giving over a slave's wife and children to his owner unless he has ear awled into a door. 
  
  Besides, Yeshua made a New Covenant, not a "Renewed Covenant". The Old Covenant remains for Non-Messianic Jews (which Karaites like yourself and others frankly get). The New Covenant and the spirit of the Old Covenant are for the Messianic Jew.

  James Walker And how many ancient Jewish Christians rejected the Law in favor of Catholic traditions? Any sources, my friend? Ebionites or Nazarenes - they both rejected the trinity, were divided on the virgin birth, and united on the binding authority of the Torah. This is proven through documents from the 2nd century onward. Modern Messianic Jews, however, are the opposite, in most cases - being mainline evangelical protestants in beliefs and practice. How do you account for this?

  Nicole Maratovah Czarnecki I can account for that many modern Messianic Jews heed the warnings in the Apostlic Letters--since the Apostles were writing down warnings about apostasy and legalism like that of the Ebionites and Nazarenes, which has nothing to do with Catholicism unless you consider that Non-Evangelical Catholics learned well from the Christian-in-name-only cults. By the way, Maccabees is not a part of Tanakh or Brit Chadashah.

  Nicole Maratovah Czarnecki Covenant with consequences for innocent children, like my cousin Fredi, too? I see. So, Fredi, who was Orthodox, was thrown against a fence or burned in a furnace because of what Reform Jews in Germany did. Your thinking is sick, James.

The conclusion is that Non-Messianic Jews who follow all 613 mitzvot of Torah aren't legalists, because they have to follow all 613 mitzvot; whereas Messianic Jews who follow all 613 mitzvot, if they even are really Messianic, are legalists. Again, a New--not a Renewed--Covenant was made.

PS Good luck following Torah, James. Know that having fallen away is not a nice place to be in--you're still saved, but you will lose reward--the New Testament says that.
